BEL CANTO, SLAVKA TASKOVA PAOLETTI Born in Bulgaria, Paoletti studied at the Music Academy of Sofia (Bulgaria) and graduated in canto and piano. She is considered one of the most important musicians for 20th century music and has performed in some of the most prestigious theatres in cities like Florence, Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Vienna, Paris, Amsterdam, Moscow and at the Scala at Milan. She is most appreciated by composers of contemporary music and her repertoire includes music by Boulez, Reiman, Amie, Henze, Maderna, Berio, Dallapiccola and Ligeti. She did world premiere performances for many of these composers in such famous locations as the Scala at Milan. In particular, she established a musical and creative relationship with Luigi Nono through his composition of “Como una ola di fuerza y luz” (Pollini –Abbado –Taskova) during its world premiere at the Milan Scala and in other theatres. The composition was awarded a Golden Record by Deutsche Grammophone. She was sole protagonist of the lyric opera “Al gran sole carico d’amore” (Abbado-Liubimov), performed at the Scala in 1986 as world premiere. She furthermore performed Nono’s “Canto sospeso”, “Canti di vita e d’amore” and others. She performed the premiere of “Lulu” by Alban Berg (Scala–Boulez, Paris Opera House Boulez- Scharot, Frankfurt Gilen-Kupfer, Spoleto Festival Polanski-Kean ). Her opera repertoire includes: La Traviata, Rigoletto, Lucia di Lammermour, La Sonnambula, Don Pasquale, The Barber of Seville, Idomeneo, Cosi’ fan tutte, Don Giovanni, le Nozze di Figaro etc. Paoletti has performed as protagonist in many national and international festivals and together with conductors such as Abbado, Boulez, Pretre, Mazel, Muti and many others. She has additionally performed and recorded operas and concerts for Rai and many other radio stations all over the world. Paoletti is currently active as an instructor and teaches master classes in Florence, Prague and Sofia. She is jury member in numerous national and international canto competitions. PIANO, PIANO DUET AND CHAMBER MUSIC SHUKU IWASAKI Shuku was born and raised in Kurashiki, Western Japan. She studied at the Toho Gakuen, Hartford College, The Julliard School and the Accademia Musicale Chigiana. Her tutors include Akiko and Motonari Iguchi, J. Lateiner, Benedetti Michelangeli, S. Lorenzi, and I. Freundrich. She won third place in the Munich International Music Competition in 1967 and took part in the Budapest Competition in 1968. She was awarded the special prize as an accompanist in the Tchaikovsky International Music Competition in 1970. She joint recitals with Starker, Tortelier, Lukas-Graf, Perlman, Navarra, Gitlis, Maisky, Gendron, etc. She taught pupils of the chamber music class at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena (Italy) during the summertime, together with Prof. R. Brengola for 20 years. She started the concert series “Music in Style in 1976 and has held another concert project, “Okinawa Moon Beach Music Camp & Festival for 18 years since 1979, which was changed into “Okinawa International Musical Festival” and was restarted with her brother, Ko in 1997. She won the “Art Festival” Award in 1989 for the success of “Shuku Iwasaki’s Music in Style”. She was awarded a medal from the Kingdom of Norway for her service to the country in 1999. She is currently engaged in not only judging and screening at the Viotti-Valsesia and Kantu International Music Competitions but also in teaching at the “Department of accompaniment” in the Holland Music Sessions as well as in the Toho Gakuen Daigakuin Daigaku School of Music, devoting herself as a teacher since April 1999 to bring up good musicians. FLUTE, ROBERTO FABBRICIANI Born in Arezzo, Roberto Fabbriciani has opened up new dimensions to flute playing with his sensational virtuoso playing and innovative technical approach. He has played for the most important Festivals (Venice, Florence, Spoleto, Paris, Bruxelles, Berlin, Köln, München, Donaueschingen, Edinburgh, London, Bruxelles, Holland Festival, Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Warsaw, Lisbon, Granada, Madrid, Luzern, Salzburg, Wien, Lockenhaus, S. Petersburg, Tokyo) and with prestigious orchestras, such as the Orchestra of the “Teatro alla Scala” in Milan, the “Accademia of Santa Cecilia” in Rome, RAI Orchestras, ECYO, London Sinfonietta, LSO, SWF Baden - Baden, RTL Luxembourg, BRTN Brussel, Orchestre Symphonique de la Monnaie, WDR di Colonia, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Bayerischer Rundfunk, Münchener Philharmoniker and others. He is a passionate interpreter of the New Music and collaborates with composers such as Sylvano Bussotti, Eliot Carter, John Cage, Níccolò Castiglioni, Aldo Clementi, Luis De Pablo, Franco Donatoni, Jindrich Feld, Brian Ferneyhough, Jean Françaix, Toshio Hosokawa, Ernest Krenek, Gyórgy Kurtág, Luigi Nono, Goffredo Petrassi, Wolfgang Rihm, Salvatore Sciarrino, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Toru Takemitsu, Isang Yun, who have dedicated to him some works among the most significant of the flute literature. He has also worked with conductors such as C. Abbado, Composer/Conductor L. Berio, E. Bour, A. Ceccato, R. Chailly, S. Comissiona, P. Eötvös, V. Fedoseyev, G. Gavazzeni, M. Gielen, M. Inoue, B. Klee, D. Kachidse, P. Maag, Composer/Conductor B. Maderna, R. Muti, Z. Peskò, D. Shallon, G. Sinopoli, A. Tamayo, L. Zagrosek. He has recorded for Philips, BMG, Col legno, Europa, Koch and Arts. He holds master classes at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. FLUTE, MICHELE MARASCO After having completed his diploma at the Conservatoire in Florence, Michele Marasco goes on to continue his studies in Switzerland under the guidance of C.Klemm, A.Nicolet and A.Jaunet. As principal flute he has collaborated with numerous Orchestras including the “ORT - Orchestra della Toscana”, the “Carlo Felice” Opera Orchestra of Genova, the MDR Radio - Symphony Orchestra of Leipzig, the Opera Orchestra of Zurich, the Orchestra of “Teatro alla Scala” in Milan, the “Filarmonica A.Toscanini” in Parma and The “Accademia di Santa Cecilia” in Rome. His commitments as a soloist and chamber musician have led him to perform in some of the most prestigious venues and Festivals worldwide, such as Carnegie Hall (New York ), St.John’s Smith Square (London), the Wiener Konzerthaus (Wien), the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Ravenna Festival and the Contempory Music Festivals of Strasbourg and Salzburg. As a member of the “Italian Wind Quintet” with which he has had a continuous collaboration with the pianist M.Campanella, he has been on tour to Israel, France, Great Britain and the United States. Perhaps most importantly is his contribution to the contemporary music scene, where he has given many first performances of works by Berio, Sciarrino, Hoffman, Stuppner, Tutino, Cavallari, De Pablo, Donatoni, Luporini and Einaudi. |
