This course provides the study of Italian diction and the expression of text in song.  The course deals with Italian art song and aria in concise format focusing on sound production and fine pronunciation of the Italian language.  The course is designed to explore the practical approach to the study and performance of Italian vocal repertoire, with emphasis on text interpretation. Repertoire: Bellini, Rossini, Donizetti, Mozart, Respighi, Puccini and other Italian composers. *Course offered only to students who choose voice as a concentration.

The midterm and final exam for this course will be in the form of a concert.  Students will demonstrate their competence and musical capabilities as well as their overall progress throughout the term and their performance ability.  All singers will perform as soloists.
