| Music Course Program: History of Italian Music |

Description The lessons will be on Italian music history from the beginning to nowadays. During lessons, students will listen to CDs and records and will be explained historical and aesthetic backgrounds. Students will furthermore analyze the pieces, considering harmony, melody and rhythm. Further studies will be carried out through examples played on the piano. This course requires a minimum of 5 students. Objectives The listening classes aim at developing competence on the great themes of Italian music; also related to other form of art (literature, painting and architecture in particular). The suggested study plan will enable students to develop their critical abilities, in order to use it when listening to concerts during their stay. Final thesis Students will have to prepare a final thesis on one of the subjects discussed during the classes, or a critical analysis of a concert they have listened to during their stay. Texts: L.
