Born in Bulgaria, Paoletti studied at the Music Academy of Sofia (Bulgaria) and graduated in canto and piano. She is considered one of the most important musicians for 20th century music and has performed in some of the most prestigious theaters in cities like Florence, Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Vienna, Paris, Amsterdam, Moscow and at the Scala at Milan. She is most appreciated by composers of contemporary music and her repertoire includes music by Boulez, Reima.n, Amie, Henze, Maderna, Berio, Dallapiccola and Ligeti.
She did world premiere performances for many of these composers in such famous
locations as the Scala at Milan. In particular, she established a musical
and creative relationship with Luigi Nono through his composition of “Como
una ola di fuerza y luz” (Pollini –Abbado –Taskova) during its world premiere
at the Milan Scala and in other theaters. The composition was awarded a Golden
Record by Deutsche Grammophone. She was sole protagonist of the lyric opera
“Al gran sole carico d’amore” (Abbado-Liubimov), performed at the Scala in
1986 as world premiere. She furthermore performed Nono’s “Canto sospeso”,
“Canti di vita e d’amore” and others. She performed the premiere of “Lulu”
by Alban Berg (Scala–Boulez, Paris Opera House Boulez- Scharot, Frankfurt
Gilen-Kupfer, Spoleto Festival Polanski-Kean).
Her opera repertoire includes: La Traviata, Rigoletto, Lucia di Lammermour, La Sonnambula, Don Pasquale, The Barber of Seville, Idomeneo, Cosi’ fan tutte, Don Giovanni, le Nozze di Figaro etc.
Paoletti has performed as protagonist in many national and international festivals and together with conductors such as Abbado, Boulez, Pretre, Mazel, Muti and many others. She has additionally performed and recorded operas and concerts for Rai and many other radio stations all over the world. Paoletti is currently active as an instructor and teaches master classes in Florence, Prague and Sofia. She is jury member in numerous national and internatioal canto competitions.
