Duccio Ceccanti was born into a family of musicians in 1974 and starts playing the violin at age five under the guidanca of his father. He receives his diploma from Andrea Tacchi and graduates at a very young age from the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence. He receives the F.Del Vecchio award (Fondazione Banca) for best young student.
He receives the diploma of honours five times and wins the G.Chigi scholarship at the Accademia Chigiana at Siena under Uto Ughi, Boris Belkin, Riccardo Brengola and Alain Meunier.
He attends the courses of the Trieste Trio and the Milano Trio at the School of Music of Fiesole. He furthermore has attended the master classes of Stefan Gheorghiu and Felix Andriewski. Later on he attends the Maastricht conservatory where he studies under Boris Belkin, and the W. Stauffer foundation of Cremona where he studies under Salvatore Accardo.
Ceccanti performs as soloist and together with chamber ensembles for noteworthy societies and during well-known festivals: Biennale Musica di Venezia, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Teatro S.Carlo di Napoli,Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino,Teatro della Pergola di Firenze, Auditorium di Milano, Associazione Alessandro Scarlatti di Napoli, "Settimana Musicale Senese" per l'Accademia Chigiana, Festival "Nuove Carriere" per il Teatro Olimpico, Amici della Musica di Vicenza e di Palermo, Società del Quartetto di Vercelli, Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte di Montepulciano, Campus internazionale di musica di Latina, Estate Musicale Fiesolana, Centro Busoni di Empoli, Teatro Metastasio di Prato, Festival Internazionale di Praga, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival,Auditorium della Radio Svizzera di Lugano,Festival di Lione, Festival di Tirana, Teatro Coliseo di Buenos Aires, Teatro Municipal di Santiago, Sala Vaz Ferreira di Montevideo, Canal da Musica di Curitiba, etc, e ha svolto tournée in Francia, Germania, Spagna, Portogallo e America Latina (Brasile, Argentina, Cile e Uruguai).
He plays hitherto unreleased compositions of Sylvano Bussotti,Mauricio Sotelo,Peter Maxwell Davies,Azio Corghi,Goffredo Petrassi,Luciano Berio and Fabio Vacchi.
Ceccanti has produced the CD "Pierrot Lunaire" and Schoenberg's trio for arches op. 45 for the ARTS association with the group Contempoartensemble and with the Artes Trio. Soon he will be releasing CDs with the music of such composers as P.M.Davies, B.Maderna, F.Vacchi and the unabridged edition for violin and piano of L.Dallapiccola for the opera Naxos. He is principal violonist of the Contempoartensemble and the Ensemble Strumentale dell'Accademia Chigiana . He records F. Vacchi's music for the soundtrack of E. Olmi's film "Il mestiere delle Armi" which received the David award of Donatello.
He records for EMI, FONE' and FONIT CETRA with the Italian Chamber Orchestra which was founded by S. Accardo. He tours Italy, Germany, South America, China, Japan and the United States.
He works together with Friuli Venezia Giulia Symphonic Orchestra as principal solo violinist. Furthermore he is assistant teacher at the Chigiana Academy of Siena. Ceccanti plays on a Nicola Amati violin from 1667.
PARTICIPATION
The course is open to violin soloists. Participants can be of any nationality and age.
The course will revolve around fundamental aspects of technique for violin repertory and interpretation.
A pianist will be available for accompaniment.
